Farewell Brett Favre

The time has come! One of the greatest quarterbacks of all time has announced his retirement. Brett Favre from the Green Bay Packers announced his retirement on March 6th, 2008 in a news conference in Lambeau Field. It was an emotional conference for Favre that led to tears. Throughout his conference it was hard for him to express how he felt and what this sport has made him to become. He has had his ups and downs throughout his years but it was all worth it. After playing for 17 years, he has decided to call it quits for good. He will truly be missed by the fans and will not be forgotten. He was one of my favorite quarterbacks in the NFL and I will sure miss his spectacular throws and plays.

He is above John Elway, Dan Marino, Steve Young, and Troy Aikman. Favre has set records that are unbeatable at the moment. He is the NFL’s all time leader in every significant passing category. He is the leader in touchdowns (442), completions (5,377), attempts (8,758), and yards (61,655) and wins (160). He has 253 consecutive starts and has took his team to multiple playoff appearances. The league's only three-time MVP, Favre led the Packers to 11 playoff appearances, including seven division crowns, four NFC Championship Games, two Super Bowls and a World Championship with a victory in Super Bowl XXXI. The packers team will retire the number 4 which was Favre’s number in the home opener on September 8th.

Favre extended a handful of other all-time marks this past season, including seasons with at least 300 completions (16) and 3,000 yards passing (16), and TD passes in a single stadium (209 at Lambeau Field). He finishes his career as the NFL's most accurate passer among those with at least 6,000 career attempts, his 61.4 career completion percentage placing him ahead of No. 2 Dan Marino (59.4 percent). With 63 games with three-or-more touchdown passes, Favre also placed just ahead of Marino (62) on the NFL's all-time list. The question now is who will take Brett’s place as the starting quarterback for the Packers. They have many young talented players and who knows maybe they will draft a young QB from the draft and they will become the new Brett Favre. We hope the best for Brett Favre and we will sure miss you. Thank You!!
